Connection to Brazil

Brazil feels like a second home to me since I have been living in Barra Mansa, state of Rio de Janeiro, for a year and a half for a social-practical service time after school (replacing ‘Zivildienst’/military service). All the times I have been at this beautiful and plural country for shorter or longer stays I have been drawing portraits of friends as well as street, city, countryside or beach perspectives.

And during the last years I also had the chance to be part of the work of AMECC, a children village in Guarabira in Paraíba, Northeast Brazil (and its partner organization Kinderdorfverein Guarabira). When being there many of the children give me the opportunity to draw them and some of the portraits are displayed here, too.
